Board Game Group Meeting #7: Game 1: Battlestar Galactica Players: Simon (Me) Bill Michael Jason Daniel
Game overview: With a difficult victory condition, Simon the cylon leader required the humans to lose and have lower than 3 resources with at least 4 damage between galactica and pegusus.
Everyone else appeared human for at least the first part of the game, but some early cylon attack cards say all the cyclon ships out within the first rotation and bill in the brig due to a crisis card faileir.
Utilizing every oppertunity to convince the humans to lower moral, simon had to make sure that the cylons didnt win too quickly, urging michael to destroy some centurion invaders before they would force the humans to lose.
come the sleeper phase, bill was still in the brig, and galactica was under constant heavy attack, finnaly when the moral was low enough, simon utilized every oppertunity to blow galactica to hell, scoring 3 hits on pegusus and 5 on galactica, before eventually pushing a centurion to the humans lose section of the track.
Result: Cylons Win - Cylon leader conditions met.
Game 2: Kingsburg Players: Simon (Me) Michael Bill Jason Daniel
Game overview: Never having played a 5 player game before, the backstabbing began early, people trying their best to block off opponents.
Simon shot into an early lead that lasted almost the entire game , but lack of resources prevented him from getting the buildidngs he needed midgame, crippling his ability to get much needed victory points.
Late game michael managed to get an embassy online that rocketed him ahead in victory points.
Jason and daniel went for the same militry straturgy that allowed for a steady stream of victory points, leaving bill trailing way behind.
The very last phase saw michael Way ahead, but the combat cost him a lot of victory points for not defeating the monsters leaving him tied with simon.
Unfortunatly for simon, michael had more resources so was declaierd the official winner.
Result: Michael Wins.

Board Game Group Meeting #9: Game 1: Cave Troll Players: Simon (Me) Brandon Daniel
Game overview: Teaching brandon how to play, he picked up the gist quite quickly, rocketing into 2nd place just behind simon, who unfortunatly got a very early lead by drawing both his treasure chest and score a room on the 2nd turn.
Brandon rockets up the points track utilizing both his knight, and his dwarf in conjuction with his treasure chest to earn massive points over 2 quick successive scoring rounds.
Unfortunatly simons lead is too great, winning by 10 coins in the end.
Result: Simon Wins
Game 2: Kingsburg Players: Simon (Me) Brandon Brandons sister Daniel
Game overview: This time it was brandons sister who needed to learn how to play, being such an easy game to master, we gave advice on how best for new players to get a decent score (the military straturgy, the easiest and safest route to go)
Due to some poor luck with the kings soldiers, everyone lost buildings in the 2nd year, hampering both daniels and simons efforts to get their econemys going.
Late game, due to poor soldier numbers, daniel and simons econemy where still suffering, fortunatly simon had managed to rack up a decent amount of points by then, winning by 8 points in the end, followed closely by brandon and his sister.
Result: Simon Wins.
Game 3: Robo Rally Players: Simon (Me) Brandon Brandons sister Daniel Bryce
Game overview: with 3 new players, I was a bit dubious as to teaching this one, but once again everyone picked up the rules really quickly ( a credit to brandon and his sister for how young they are, but still able to comprehend complex ideas.
Daniel rockets to an early lead managing to reach the first flag within 2 turns, simon spends 4 or 5 turns helplessly doing doughnuts around the flag before finnaly drawing the cards nessecary to reach it.
Bryce follows a few turns later, and daniel has alreaedy hit flag 2, ramming simon out of the way, completely stuffing up his ability to get to the 2nd flag. Daniel is also running on his last legs, having been rammed off the course and being shot to death.
Everybody decides to pick on brandon who has shut down for repairs, leaving him on less life than he shut down with.
Daniel makes a final dash for flag 3, and manages to hit it within 2 turns taking the flag.
Result: Daniel Wins
Game 4 and 5: Drakon
Players: Bryce Simon (Me) Daniel Brandon Brandon's sister
Game Overview: Another quick game to play before brandon and his sister leave, so quick in fact we managed 2 games due the first one lasting about 5 minutes.
Suffice to say daniel and bryce managed a loop that nobody could stop in time, daniel taking the coins.
2nd game the dungeon expanded rapidly, daniel deciding to go off on his own, then getting massivly picked on by drakon.
Bryce plays a map room, which everyone concequently uses except him to steal his tiles leaving him with only 1 left.
Simon works a small loop and gets quite a decent amount of coin, dispite being stolen from several times.
Finnaly due to daniels misfortunate frequent run ins with drakon simon managed to take the win.
Game 6: Cosmic Encounter Players: Simon Bryce Daniel
Game Overview: Due to simons special ability, the encounter deck is cycled through really quickly, unfortunatly, bryce somehow manages to get a really good foothold on everyones planets, disabling simons ability, and forcing everyone to spend the latter part of the game trying to stop him, a difficult thing to do when he can just tag along at his own whims.
Alas he was too far in front and takes the win.
Result: Bryce Wins.

Board Game Group Meeting #9: Game 1: Chaos in the old world Players: Simon (Me) Michael Daniel Thomas
Game overview: Early game all the gods flounder with no god getting a significant advantage over the others, each god interfearing with the others to prevent them getting ahead
Mid game the old world explodes with heros rising to meet the threat of the ruinious powers, culling many of the demons on the board every turn.
Late game after much stalling, just before the game was about to end, all 5 ruination cards are delt rocketing tzeentch, slannesh and nurgle towards the 50 VP's needed to win, with tzeentch coming out on top.
Result: Thomas Wins
Game 2: Cosmic encounter Players: Simon (Me) Thomas Michael Daniel
Game overview: With the chosen getting the early beatstick drawn against them, (no small part involving not reading the race power properly), the vulch seemed to be relitivly untouched by mid game.
The hackers made use of their power to control what cards where lost from his hand and fido made sure that his ships in the warp where kept to a minimum.
Just when all looked lost for the chosen, the hackers utilized a mobius tubes, freeing everyones ships from the warp, bringing them back into the game.
soon every race had 4 foreign colonys and much stalling was to be had, until the chosen managed to pull a 20 attack card and dispite all other races pledging their support for the defenders, they had no hope.
Result: Simon Wins.
Game 3: Kingsburg Players: Simon (Me) Michael Thomas Daniel
Game overview: Typically Michael went strait for his embassy for easy VP, Daniel followed suit, but only through lack of other options, Thomas went a military stratergy and Simon went for a mixed economy and military straturgy.
Michael was way ahead mid game with simon trailing behind, followed by the other two in hot persuit, untill a crippling loss to some orks that destroyed Michaels embassy, bringing Simon into contention.
Late game Simon was way ahead with Michael scratching his head with what went wrong.
Result: Simon Wins
Game 4: Red November
Players: Simon (Me) Daniel Michael Thomas Tye Craig
Game Overview: Early game there didnt seem to be much going wrong, Michael got delt the aqua lung in his opening hand, and we all knew he planned to abandon ship as soon as he could.
Mid game, the sub was bearly holding together, after shooting down neumerous incoming torpedos, the rear of the vessle was under water while the front of the ship was on fire, it didnt look good.
Late game the kraken appeared right on the 10 minutes to go, and dispite michael being able to fight it off, he cowardly decided to leg it leaving the rest of us to out fates, Tye who had managed to pick up the 2nd aqua lung also made the choice to leave, but was helped heavily by the other crew mates who graciously decided it was better for at least 2 people to win, rather than everybody lose.
Result: Tye and Michael Win.
