Just started a new D&D 4.0 campaign with a new group. Going to log the antics here for everyone to see!
The Players Bryce - Playing a Dwarven Cleric/Runepriest Macca - Playing a Gnome Rogue Joel - Playing a Goliath Fighter Chris - Playing an Elven Ranger
The Setting This is a world of class and status. If you don't belong to one of the major clans you are nothing. The clans fight for power & war with each other in their efforts to further themselves. The Players are all starting as peasants. No rank and no clan, living in slums in the southern reaches of the land.

Session 1- Macca and Chris discover the body of what looks like a clan noble dead within their slums (think it like a brazilian favella). The noble is dressed in ill-fitting robes & has his throat cut.
- The group decide to take the body to the closest city of Dar Qat, run by the Scimitar Legion. This causes an issue for Joel who runs a section of the slum. His subordinates are happy for him to leave to travel to Dar Qat and promise not to overthrow his territory. The party decides to take the risk and leave anyway as a dead noble within the slums could be real trouble.
- Travelling to Dar Qat with a dead noble proves dangerous, as they run into a travelling goup of nobles from the rather nasty Tarun clan. While the others make a run for it, Bryce foolishly approaches them and tries to converse. The nobles are not amused and claim him as a slave, bind him and throw him in their wagon.
- While this is happening, Chris has been snooping about the wagon, finding evidence of the dead noble they have. One of The Watcher clan (who act as sherrifs, bounty hunters and local law enforcement). Chris steals the Watchers clothing and sword.
- On arrival at Dar Qat, the local guards want nothing to do with a dead noble and tell the party to take it directly to the local Watchers.
- A brief period of crazyness erupts as Macca rescues Bryce from the Tarun wagon and then proceeds to try and steal a greatsword for Joel from the local markets. A 3 foot tall gnome running through the streets dragging an 8 foot long sword proves an amusing spectacle.
- Meanwhile Bryce who has escaped from tha Taruns believes he must now be invisible thanks to some strange berries he had foraged eariler. He investigates a nearby church and boldly enters it (which a peasant should not do). It is strangely empty and though initially inviting, after a short time a sense of discomfort overcomes him and he quickly leaves.
- Chris and Joel have approached the local Watchers finding out that they work in pairs. One fighter type along with a caster or rogue type. They obviously have the body of the dead fighter ao are informed that it is likely that the other Watcher is nearby. The dead watcher is also not from these parts. They work out that the Tarun Nobles for some reason have killed a Watcher and dumped the body in the slum in Scimitar Legion lands.
- After some street level investigations the party discovers that the second watcher is nearby and get a meet setup for them. Macca scouts ahead and spots some Tarun thugs and works out this is a setup.
- A bloody fight breaks out and the party quickly overcome the two Tarun thugs and loot htem for much needed armour and weapons.
- Still nervous of the double cross, they go back to their contact to find out that this was a test of honor setup by the second Watcher and she shows herself in a nearby building.

no update for 'slum of lies' or 'the zombie gauntlet' ?
heres my view.... bryce is the zombie lord!!! and macca is now his evil minion. Joel has some +1 ichy armour and me...well i am just awsome....unless i have to kill a zombie in close combat....or any combat for that matter. The slum is no more, it is now a full city that magically appeared after we forcably used bryce in some kind of ritual that we had no idea about. I am guessing it worked due to his evilness.
Bryce spat some berries, ate some berries and threw some berries, still trying to figure out the evil mechanations behind this....on top of all thas Macca and bryce seem to be plagued by children of the corn that no one else can see... evil attracts evil i guess.
i claim shinanigans.....evil shinanigans

Session 2 aka Slum of Lies- Having proven themselves to the Watcher Petra, the group agree to help her investigate what's going on, starting off back at the slums where the body was found.
- Returning to the slums Joel finds his area is in chaos with his subordinates trying to take over. He issues an open challenge and is surprised when Bryce and Macca accept the challenge and promptly beat him.
- The group now proceeds to investigate the dump site, finding a ruined temple beneath the rubble. This temple greatly disturbs Bryce (as he is the only Divine character)
- Bryce convinces the group that he has the answers as one of the local urchins saw what was happening here.
- The group leaves the temple and Bryce and Macca start a huge street party celebrating their rise to power. During this Joel and Chris interrogate the locals about what happened at the temple to no avail.
- Now doubting Bryce, the group returns to the temple to find the entire area ablaze. This furthers their doubts.
- Returning to the slums, the celebrations are still going. Too much moonshine means the group don't wake until late the enxt day.
- It seems violence has errupted again with brutal killings reported across the slums.
- While investigating this the Watcher Petra is spotted. They catch up with her on the roof of a nearby building. While talking they are attacked by a crazed local. Petra flees and as the group gets ready to pursue they notice the hundreds of milling locals... all crazed... all zombie like...

Session 3 aka The Zombie Gauntlet- Seeing Petra in dire trouble, the party attempts a daring rescue through the zombie horde. A huge combat starts with the party quickly dispatching the first of the zombies, but slowly getting overwhelmed. By the time they reach Petra they are all looking beaten and bloody with Joel near death. Only Bryce makes it through nearly unscathed.
- Just as they are almost overwhelmed, two more figures enter the battlefield. The two watchers from Dar Qat have arrived and are carving through the zombies.
- The group and the three watchers barricade themselves in a building. Petra seems distressed and the other watchers introduce themselves as the brothers Kyle and Konrad. They have come to arrest Petra for questioning regarding the death of her partner. They refuse to explain any further and demand the party to assist them.
- The party decides to side with Petra and help her to escape from Kyle and Konrad. Petra asks about the nerby temple and they all head there.
- With the fires extinguished, the party again enter the temple going further than ever. They find a room with murals all over the walls depicting a grand city where monstrous beings and regular people seem to be living together. Macca uses Bryce's divine blood to activate a magic ritual and the mural changes to show the same city overrun by the undead.
- They travel further under the city to find a massive chamber with three thin bridges meeting at a platform suspended in the middle. The platform is covered in runes only Bryce can see. Bryce again uses his blood to activate them. The flood of magic knocks out all the party except for Bryce who is the only one to witness the images of a ghostly city drift past him in the chamber. Something powerful has been activated here.
- Leaving the temple the party finds the slums gone. Now the majestic city Bryce witnessed is in it's place. People dressed in Scimitar Legion clothing are in the city... as well as the zombies...
